History
The King’s Crown Rowing Association was founded in 1983 by a group of heavyweight and
lightweight alumni. The initial purpose of the KCRA was to form a Columbia Crew alumni
organization dedicated to supporting and developing Columbia Crew and to creating post-
collegiate rowing and racing opportunities for alumni.
Mission Statement
In 2024, the KCRA was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charity with a renewed effort to grow and
strengthen Columbia Crew and a formal mandate.
Hosting development and high-performance racing camps
Hosting regattas and social events
Building and operating a boathouse
Soliciting donations for new shells and equipment
Social Events
The KCRA sponsors several social events every year including:
February: Annual KCRA Banquet and Awards Ceremony
June: KCRA reception for recent crew graduates
September: KCRA barbeque and reunion row
